March 2017 limited edition release from Laphroaig first matured in refill hogsheads. Then some whisky spent time in refilled quarter casks while the remainder aged in first-fill bourbon barrels. Aged a total of 27 years, the whiskies were blended and bottled at 41.7% ABV.
 
Nose:
Dense medical smoke, intertwined by age, surprisingly high fruit, including orange, and vanilla cream - over the complex nose lies a thin layer of dust
Taste:
Immediately the relatively thin body stands out, with a sweet tincture of iodine, and immature honey melon, behind it dry oak, but no bitterness
Finish:
Iodine, hay, relatively short, little wood
